Hey parents, how did your first week as a homeschool teacher go???  I’m sure most parents have a new level of respect for their children's teachers, After it was announced that schools were closing amid the coronavirus pandemic, and parents had to step up and prepare to take in the role as home room teacher … Many found out, homeschooling doesn’t just involve reading, writing and ‘rithmetic …  Parents learned this week that math is taught so different now. A lot of parent admitted to using Mr. Google to be able to help their children. Some parents played it smart and decided to put home economics back into the school system… Cooking 101, Washing Dishes 101A, Laundry 102, Sewing 102A, Vacuuming 103 & Garbage 104…  Parents relax, no one expects you to be the perfect teacher, homeschooling isn't school. Kids accustomed to the school environment won't be as focused. Lessons won't be as professional as the ones they're used to

I’ve been talking back-and-forth for a few days with Mrs. Yani Dyckes, someone sent me her event that she is hosting in Charlotte, NC for teen girls. As I got to know her I learned she is currently competing for the title of Mrs. North Carolina 2020.  Mrs. Yani is a wife and mother of three energetic teenagers. She has been modeling for more than 10 years, and graduated from The Art Institute of Charlotte with a degree in Fashion Marketing & Management. Mrs. Yani is extremely passionate about empowering young girls in under-served communities by creating opportunities for them to develop their self-esteem. In 2017, life presented her with a set of challenges that she felt would tear her life apart. She didn’t know at the time those challenges were actually opportunities to face her fears. As she started to peel away the layers of fear that she had grown comfortable wearing, she realized that she did not have a mature understanding of the meaning of self-esteem and

Allow me to introduce you to Ms. Khadijah Laidford, I had the pleasure of meeting her a few weeks ago  at an event I attended. Ms. Khadijah Laidford is a 24-year-old New York native that moved to Charlotte NC in 2015. Shortly after her arrival, Khadijah started her career in law enforcement where she gained hands-on experience working with juvenile teens. Khadijah’s time as a correctional officer is when she realized that she wanted to be more involved with helping the youth. Thereon strategizing and brainstorming on the many ways, Khadijah came up with an idea that she wanted to start a nonprofit for at-risk youth, where she would provide youth with mentoring and advocacy. Shortly after in October of 2017 Future Growth Development (also known as FGD) was birthed. From then, Khadijah understood that she was on a mission to provide the essentials to the disenfranchised youth in her community.  Since 2017 FGD has put together many community events such as the “Powerfu

Who was Nathaniel Woods Nathaniel Woods, 44, was killed by lethal injection on March 5 at William C. Holman prison in Atmore, Alabama. The state of Alabama and everyone involved in his death knew he didn’t kill Carlos Owen, Harley A. Chisholm III, and Charles R. Bennett, three Birmingham, Ala., police officers. They conceded that point time and time again. Even the jury hearing the case did not come to a unanimous decision on whether he should receive the death penalty. They killed him anyway. “Under Alabama law, someone who helps kill a police officer is just as guilty as the person who directly commits the crime,” said Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey. “Since 1983, Alabama has executed two individuals for being an accomplice to capital murder.” No Nate Woods wasn’t innocent. A jury convicted him of murder. There is no objective evidence that he planned the crime. In fact, there is only one thing that every person, even the people who executed him, can agree on: Nate Woo
