Attorney Tiffany Wilson has earned a reputation as a highly effective and well-regarded lawyer, as well as a public servant with a strong commitment to the residents of Union County.
A native of Union County, Wilson, the child of a retired military father and educator mother, spent her early years living in various cities throughout the United States. Her father’s life of service to the country, her mother’s commitment to educating youth, and her experience living in diverse cities has fueled her passion for service and people.
Since returning to Union County in 2003, Wilson placed a high importance on working with families, protecting women and children from violence, and supporting youth. Wilson began practicing in Juvenile Court with the intention of inspiring and guiding youth. She took her passion for change and effectively advocated for her young clients. With the intent on doing what is best for families and the community, she has served as an attorney in Family Treatment Court, and she has both prosecuted and defended cases in Child Support Court. She has practiced for over 16 years in the Department of Social Services Court. Wilson, an experienced defense attorney, has represented clients in both District and Superior Court, including representation for DWI treatment court. Most recently, she has worked as the conflict Guardian ad Litem attorney, assuring that the voice and best interest of children were considered. Her advocation for uplifting others is not confined to the courtroom; she tirelessly volunteers in the community.
Wilson served as a board member on the Union County Board of Elections for two years. She currently serves on the Monroe Parks and Recreation Commission and Board. She has been the Cheer Commissioner at Monroe Middle School since 2013, as well as a volunteer with the Monroe Athletic Foundation. Wilson serves as the Director of the Christian Education and Youth Missionary Director at her church. She is currently in her eighth year serving as Legal Advisor for the Wadesboro/Monroe District of the AME Zion Church.
In the interest of providing youth with guidance and opportunities, Wilson assisted with the creation of two mentoring programs that focus on at-risk youth in middle and high school levels. She helped start and coach a Track and Field program in Monroe. Over the years she has collected donations for Turning Point, The Community Shelter, and Union County Public Schools. She has served as a mentor with the Women in the Making Program, Hearts for Monroe, and at local elementary and middle schools. She is a Charter member of Union County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. As a member, she has volunteered with her sorority’s Debutante Ball, Scholarship Committee, and Social Action Committee, all of which have played a vital role in making sure community needs are addressed. Wilson believes that public service is everyone’s responsibility.
The culmination of Wilson’s experience inside the courtroom and in the community, makes her uniquely suited for District Court.
Wilson is a graduate of Monroe High School in Monroe, NC, she earned a Political Science degree from Howard University in Washington, DC, and a law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, NC.
